Wrapping up the URBAN eat Fresher’s Season 2014

Hi Guys! Yes I am back again with another blog post and guess what I’ve been up to?

“Woo free sandwiches!” … “Win a trip to New York for New Year!”… “Sandwich Selfie!” “Yeaaaaah!”

The four phrases that I’ve been constantly repeating over the past two weeks, so much so that I’ve become a professional at just saying those things…

So I did eventually venture back down to the south, and I have been popping up here, there and everywhere! But to be specific I have been over at Reaseheath College, London Southbank University (LSBU), Queen Mary’s London (QMUL), Liverpool, and Kingston (Where I’m from!) as well as Chichester.

I can safely say the south is not selfie shy at all in the slightest (especially those at LSBU and Chichester), which is pretty perfect for our campaign at the moment while venturing to different parts of the country. I have shared lots of ‘first-time selfie’ moments with you all – it’s been magical… (Plus I’ve photobombed a few too.)

At LSBU, I was placed down what you’d call a food street – there was food literally everywhere plus it smelt amazing! If you were hungry, this was the place to be, you had breakfast, lunch & dinner all in one place and as you can imagine people made friends very quickly with each other for the chance to partake in swapsies – I certainly made friends with Delice de France as I do enjoy the odd pain au chocolat and Belvoir who provided me drinks of the Pressé kind, after all every girl enjoys bubbles especially if they’re the raspberry lemonade kind of bubbles. On the selfies front there was no encouragement whatsoever from me – each and every one of you picked up your phones and happily started taking selfies – well done you!

I then ventured onto QMUL where a lot of people couldn’t grasp the concept of free food. When they did though Julia and I (she’s part of the sales team) got bombarded with sandwiches flying off the platters, and cameras being brought out, which ended up in some very serious sandwich selfie taking. I then travelled up to Liverpool, and had an amazing view on the square of the Victoria building! (You can spot this on the collage that I’ve artistically created above) I was super busy handing out free sandwiches until the rain started to appear but the students still soldiered through hence the creation of some very wet sandwich selfies!

Next place on the list was Kingston! (Luckily for me, I got to work from home!) It was very odd being at fresher’s and not collecting items… but hey ho it was still fun! I saw some friendly familiar faces who I had met from LSBU and the swapsies began again! In the beginning many Kingston(ers) didn’t like the idea of taking a selfie with a sandwich but with some gentle encouragement (and peer pressure from friends) the selfies started happening and soon everyone was taking them!

And finally, Chichester! Once again, I saw the familiar faces but obviously by this time, I had considered them as friends as you spend the whole day with them and they give you freebies. I even picked up a tattoo from One Water that was pretty cool, plus I got the standard food freebies in return for sandwiches (I’ve now discovered Pop chips which are amazing! And I had an awesome wrap from Love Chicken Joe’s). Chichester you are definitely a selfie-loving campus but none of this smile sweetly with your sandwich kind of stuff, more of the pull funny faces with your sandwich – it was great to see! Plus it was so nice to end my fresher’s season on a high where people just jumped straight into the whole sandwich selfie campaign!

I can safely say, hands down that my first fresher’s experience of being on the other side has been fantastic, and I look forward to my next challenge that URBAN eat hands me! Also if you haven’t taken your sandwich selfie yet, and uploaded it to sandwichselfie.co.uk for a chance to win a New Year in New York, I say do it soon as it’s an awesome prize and anybody could win it’s not just for freshers! Happy Selfie-ing! – Rebecca ?
