When Berry meets Flint Lockwood, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2
Hello URBAN eat lovers!
Its that romantic time of the year and we all know that 4-letter word thats been on everyones lips the past couple of weeks. Food! *Cheers*
Wait no I mean Love. [Pause] Today Im bringing you Food Love! (Clever, right?) As its Valentines Day today, what better way to celebrate #FoodLove than with a compilation of my Top 10 Romantic Film Food Moments.
Its also a Saturday night, so if your partner has already cooked you a meal following Johns advice on Indulgent foods for Blokes to Cook, follow it up with a cuddle on the sofa and a film on the screen. Ive selected a few of my favourites below, but I apologise in advance, as the following choices tend to fall under the category of being chick flicks.
Yep, such a surprise! If you havent seen it, I recommend you watch The Notebook, but make sure you come prepared with a lot of tissues. Yep, boyfriends, Im sorry but if you go with this choice, you may have a blubbering mess on Valentines. At least itll get you in her good books though!
While the ending may be a tear jerker, there are many scenes thatll make you go aww! and considering this is a #foodlove post heres one of my favourites, which features a healthy dollop of ice cream.
Disneys Lady & the Tramp
Everyone whos grown up watching Disney films remembers the iconic scene in Lady & the Tramp where the two star-crossed doggies eat spaghetti. And with good cause too. Its a beautiful scene, even if it does set unrealistic expectations when it comes to eating spaghetti romantically and suggests that guys do share their food. One day girls! One day itll happen – theres still hope.
For all you Channing Tatum fans out there, heres the cute scene from The Vow where he takes his amnesiac wife, played by Rachel McAdams, back to the café where they went on their first date to indulge in a game of chocolate roulette. Chocolate and the re-awakening of love? What more could you ask for!?
50 First Dates
Breakfast, especially waffles, is the foundation of any healthy relationships Want proof? Check out 50 First Dates. Theres more memory loss here (is that some kind of running theme in rom-coms?) because Drew Barrymore suffers from a kind of amnesia that means she cant remember the events of the last 24 hours. That means Adam Sandler has to drop his bachelor game, fully focus on making Barrymore his own, and yes, eat lots and lots of waffles!
Ahh this good ol classic! Ive yet to meet someone who doesnt enjoy this film. Here we have Colin Firth stopping the dinner service to try out his Portuguese. If it wasnt for a proposal, wed be kicking up a fuss.
Disneys Beauty & the Beast
Yes, Im pulling out another Disney card because Disney seems to put love and food together perfectly.
This also proves my point that breakfast helps relationships blossom so thanks Beauty and the Beast! Despite the Beast having terrible table manners, Belle still took a fancy to her hairy companion, so hey guys, theres still hope for you yet!
Of course this one would be in the list, what isnt romantic about a rich bachelor, a working girl, champagne and strawberries? Plus Ive always had a soft spot for Richard Gere.
Who says a milkshake date cant be romantic? Pulp Fiction proves that the thick, gelatinous drink can be sexy as Uma Thurman and John Travolta share a straw in a 50s style diner. Who really cares about cooties when theres chemistry?
When Harry met Sally
Not bonding over breakfast, but here we have bonding over lunch. If you havent watched this film, Id suggest you get it immediately its a classic! Plus, everyone knows of the famous scene below
Bridget Jones Diary
Finally if youre single and ready to mingle, take a leaf out of Bridget Jones Diary. Ive heard Ben & Jerry are both very accommodating.
