Have a Healthy Obsession With Food

Finally a good excuse! After a recent study in the US, it appears as though women finally have their excuse for wanting to binge on food. It has been found that women are biologically programmed to eat more, that’s why those diets really don’t work.

I hope you are listening… Because they really don’t work! Eat what you want and be happy.

When breaking down food, the body releases the happy hormone, and don’t we all want to eat and be happy? Oh yes! You have not only our permission, but an extremely good excuse to eat the following feel good foods: Chocolate, strawberries, ice-cream, pasta, french bread, bananas, grapes, oranges, nuts and sesame seeds.

Need another excuse? Researchers from the Penn State College of Medicine, in Pennsylvania, found that higher fat consumption is associated with increased daytime sleepiness – A good reason to watch what you eat… But they also found that higher carbohydrate consumption was linked to increased alertness during the day. In fact, people who eat a lot of meat but no carbs are more likely to feel sleepy during the day – not good when you have an eight hour shift ahead of you.

Everything in moderation! You shouldn’t be forcing yourself to cut out specific foods, or eat just meat, as per the infamous Atkins diet. Meat is not only high in protein, but high in fat and the body finds this difficult to digest. This eats up your much needed energy.

Want to increase your energy levels further? Then switch from two to three meals a day to four or five. Having smaller bites to eat, or grazing through the day smooths out your blood glucose levels and eases the energy drain from digestion.
