The weather’s warm and we all know what that means!
T-shirts and shorts are out, along with an excuse to eat ice cream daily… or is that just me?
On a side note, y’know what else is trendy nowadays? Healthy Smoothies.
Although we said it’s better to eat fruit whole, rather than blend it in a smoothie, as part of the myth-busting we did for the launch of our new range ‘Eat Better’, I don’t particularly fancy eating kale, beetroot or spinach by itself unaccompanied with something else. So I thought I’d bring you a great collection of healthy smoothie ideas you can experiment with while the weather is warm.
1. Coconut & Mango

While coconut is not loved by all, it does have many health benefits, plus the smell of coconut reminds me of summer so this smoothie should be summer in a glass, now that the sun’s out and shining in all its glory. This will definitely be going on my Pinterest board of ‘Recipes to Try’.
2. Chocolate Chia Smoothie

FYI chocolate totally counts as being healthy (maybe)… I even mentioned it in a previous post (’10 good mood food recipes’) but pair it with chia seeds and pistachios and you’re onto a winner! Plus this is packed with protein and is high in Omega 3 – now that’s the good stuff!
3. Tropical Green Smoothie

I’m sensing a slight tropical theme developing here. This smoothie contains all the tropical fruits (hence the name) as well as our best friend spinach, which gives it a super vibrant green colour that I totally dig.
The creator of this smoothie has said that it could potentially be like a Piña Colada cocktail, without the alcohol… making it a healthy smoothie version of a virgin Piña Colada.
4. Glowing Skin Smoothie

Ooh another green one for you! This one apparently makes your skin glow, making you look healthier! This is probably another one that is likely to make an appearance on my Pinterest board. This beauty contains avocado, spinach, coconut water, bananas, pineapple and mango.
5. Raspberry Green Tea Smoothie

Being brought up in a Chinese background, I’ve always had a love for tea especially green tea and jasmine tea. So I’ve found here that instead of your standard loose leaf tea, it’s been combined into a smoothie with raspberries and that sounds extremely yummy.
6. Stress Busting Orange Smoothie

Considering it’s exam season, most of my friends have got their heads in books and are drowning in revision notes, so they should probably take a look at this smoothie as it’s packed with all the good stuff – I’m talking about those vitamins and minerals! And it’s such a good colour!
7. Avocado & Spinach Smoothie

This one is completely banana-free for those of you who aren’t too keen on bananas.
I know I’ve been saying that all these healthy smoothie ideas are packed with goodness, but this one definitely is because it’s made with superfoods which I suppose means that after you’ve digested it, should make you feel super?
8. Triple Berry Smoothie

Another banana-free one! Although if the texture isn’t as thick as you’d like it, just throw in an extra banana. A like the name suggests, it’s made with loads of berries so it’s filled to the brim with antioxidants!
9. Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie

Considering I’ve nearly got all the colours of the rainbow in smoothie form, I thought I’d throw in a red coloured one. This concoction contains beetroots, strawberries, turmeric, ginger and orange juice, so there’s lots of good stuff in there.
I imagine this to be a really earthy tasting one that makes you feel tons better about yourself after last night’s midnight feasting.
So healthy smoothie ideas galore! Remember smoothies are only beneficial if they’re consumed as part of a balanced diet! And just because smoothies are easy to make that should be a reason to stop eating your fruits whole
