(Just in case the above image tickles your fancy and you want to try your hand at making it)
Italian is one of my favourite cuisines, and working for URBAN eat has developed my love for sandwiches as well. So when you put together Italian and sandwich you get something that’ll make me ridiculously happy!
Of course, the best Italian sandwich ever is the Italiano Inspired, which was June’s monthly special and is absolutely gorgeous
And that’s the end of this post…
I kid – yes the Italiano Inspired produced by URBAN eat is one of my favourite monthly specials and it did indeed make me very happy. But sometimes it’s not all about URBAN eat, so here they are: the 6 best Italian sandwiches we know of that you could easily make at home.
1.) The Caprese Sandwich

What’s not to love about this? Warm crusty bread, filled with freshly sliced tomatoes and mozzarella, sprinkled with basil – seasoned with salt, olive oil and balsamic vinegar – Yum!
2.) Mozzarella & Prosciutto

I love prosciutto (or, as some call it Parma Ham), and I’m particularly keen on it with with a slice of melon or even on toast. In a sandwich with some mozzarella it’s even better though, and in a way it’s just a nicer sounding Ham and Cheese sandwich…. Right? Anyway, this particular one features olives too so if you’re an olive lover this is going to be right up your street!
3. Pepperoni Grilled Cheese Sandwich

For those of you who feel bad about eating pizza really early in the day/for lunch (and I doubt there is anyone out there…) But if you are, here’s the option for turning pizza into a sandwich format. Like your standard grilled cheese sandwiches? Well you’re going to love this amped up version with the Italian meat of pepperoni!
4.) Chicken, Pesto & Rocket Sandwich

When I lived in halls at university, I lived with this one guy who would always make pesto and egg toasties. Apparently it worked? He offered to make me one but it never really tempted me – however this little creation sounds a little less wacky to me. Plus you can’t really go wrong with a chicken sandwich!
5.) Stacked Veggie Sandwich

Well isn’t this sandwich is looking dee-licious! What are the Italian elements, I hear you cry? Well it’s based on focaccia with sundried tomato aioli and actual sundried tomatoes too. Delizioso!
6.)Toasted Artichoke Sandwich

I’ve never had an artichoke mainly because I never know how to cook them but this could be the one way that I try an artichoke! Plus this sandwich features parmesan cheese, so serve it on Italian bread and it’ll just ooze Italian. Aside from this – I also came across an artichoke, spinach grilled cheese sandwich and that sounds doubly tasty.
So there we have it, our 6 best Italian sandwiches! What ingredients do you use to make your sandwich the ultimate Italian sandwich?
